Hyperkin has announced that its premium The Competitor controller is coming to the U.S. with three new colorways: Midas Touch Edition (gold), Murasaki Edition (purple) and Widow Edition (red). Like the original The Competitor, the new Midas Touch, Murasaki, and Widow Edition controllers are designed for Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms.

Hyperkin The Competitor Midas Touch, Murasaki, and Widow Edition controllers feature a symmetrical thumbstick design with twin Hall-Effect thumbsticks topped with either dome or concave thumbstick caps, encased by metal glide rings and anti-friction gates. The controller eliminates stick drift while maintaining smooth movement, exceptional durability, and an overall premium feel.

In addition, the triggers on The Competitor are fitted with Hall-Effect modules for better reliability, action buttons with durable membrane, and a segmented D-pad optimized for precision. The ultra-low-latency response and laser-textured grip also ensure that The Competitor is accurate and snappy, while the twin programmable back buttons, integrated mic-mute and 3.5mm headset jack ensures full functionality.

The Competitor could be a great fit for Forza Horizon 6, which is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Digital Extremes has released a new update for the Soulframe pre-alpha, titled Preludes 15: Gods and Ghosts. The update adds a reworked loot system, a new Siege system, a Totem system rework, and more. 

The list of major new additions are as follows:

  • Reworked Loot and Crafting System
    • Expands overall gear variety, allowing players to find more unique discoveries as defeated enemies now drop fully crafted weapons with new Tempers, Soulframe’s randomized modifiers. Now, players can also forge Ingots with the blacksmith Tuvalkane to refine craftwork.
  • Gear Trading and In-Game Mail Features
    • Spread the spoils of battle and meaningful messages with players. 
  • New Siege Encounter – Turret Jotar
  • Reworked Enemy Patrol System
    • Uncover fresh mob encounters and fight new enemies, such as Ode’n Caeulam.
  • Totem System Rework
    • Totems now bestow stat bonuses and buffs for Pull Smite and Rune Abilities, which bring forth new Totem combinations. These pair well with the game’s newest weapon additions: the heavy axe Veilk, the long blade Ilverac, and the heavy mace Vrusht-IX.

It is unknown whether or not Soulframe will release in 2026 or beyond. Additionally, while Digital Extremes’ have not yet confirmed Soulframe’s consoles, it will likely be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, similarly to Warframe.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition Digital Pre-Orders Now Open in Nintendo eShop

Bandai Namco and From Software have announced that digital pre-orders for Elden Ring Tarnished Edition are now available on Nintendo Switch 2 for $79.99 in the Nintendo eShop. Digital pre-orders for Elden Ring Tarnished Edition include “The Ring” and “Ring of Miquella” bonus gestures as early unlocks. The eShop also reveals the game’s file size to be 41 GB.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launches on August 28 featuring the base game and the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in one package. Moreover, the game will feature new armor and customization features for Torrent’s appearance. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition was initially delayed out of 2026 due to needing extra development time to optimize the game’s performance.

Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion are available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. More than 30 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide as of April 2025. Roughly five million copies have been sold since the last sales update for Elden Ring in June 2024.

The game’s co-op successor, Elden Ring Nightreign, is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Final Weapon reviewed Elden Ring Nightreign and gave it a 4.5 out 5 score. We stated that the game “understands its own identity and hones in on that. The returning bosses are a treat for older FromSoftware players, and the new mechanics are fun yet challenging to wrap your head around.

My Time at Evershine Launches in 2027, New Trailer Released

Pathea Games and PM Studios have released a new trailer for My Time at Evershine, which launches in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. My Time at Evershine was recently featured at Summer Game Fest 2026 Play Days, allowing press and media to try out the game.

ProbablyMonsters has announced that new action-adventure RPG Crimson Moon will release in September 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Crimson Moon puts players in the shoes of a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel hybrid who defends humanity from hell. The game also features two player co-op.

Kyousuke Motomi’s Dengeki Daisy Shōjo Manga Gets Anime Adaptation

A new website has been opened to announce the anime adaptation of Kyousuke Motomi’s Dengeki Daisy shōjo manga. The Dengeki Daisy anime will premiere in 2027.

Sōta Ueno, known for his work on SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table, is directing the anime at Studio DEEN. Sawako Hirabayashi is in charge of the series scripts. Ayaka Murakami is handling the character design, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

Kyousuke Motomi launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Monthly Betsucomi magazine in 2007, and ended in 2013. Shogakukan published the manga’s 16th and final compiled book volume in February 2014.

Viz Media’s Shojo Beat imprint published the manga in English and describes the story:

After orphan Teru Kurebayashi loses her beloved older brother, she finds solace in the messages she exchanges with DAISY, an enigmatic figure who can only be reached through the cell phone her brother left her. Meanwhile, mysterious Tasuku Kurosaki always seems to be around whenever Teru needs help… Could DAISY be a lot closer than Teru thinks?

Motomi also dropped a new manga titled The Instruction Manual to Anything and Everything (Yaoyoruzu Toriatsukai Setsumeisho) in Monthly Betsucomi on January 13.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members have access to this evolving and updated game catalog starting June 16, 2026, with Final Fantasy XVI and Gitaroo Man.

Every month, PlayStation Plus Game Catalog brings several PlayStation 5 games to subscribers. The staff for the upcoming anime adaptation of Nanigashi Shima and raemz’s Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky (Tōmei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita) novel revealed the anime’s third promotional video. The video reveals the opening theme song, “Hitohira,” by Motohiro Hata.

The anime’s main cast includes:

  • Miyu Irino as Kakeru Sorano
  • Saori Hayami as Koharu Fuyutsuki
  • Konomi Kohara as Yūko Hayase
  • Yōhei Azakami as Ushio Narumi

Joe Yoshizaki directs the anime at MAKARIA. Yūko Kakihara is in charge of series scripts, and Yoshihiro Sawada and Yūzuki Ishii are the character designers. Harumi Fuuki is composing the music. Yui Sakurai will perform the ending theme song “Hikari” (Light).

The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan Light Novels Get Anime Adaptation in 2027

Earlier today, a new website opened to announce the anime adaptation of Izushiro and illustrator Ruria Miyuki’s The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan (Saikyō Mahōshi no Inton Keikaku) light novel series. The website also revealed the anime’s teaser promotional video, teaser visual, cast, staff and the anime’s 2027 release date.

Yūto Uemura will star as the protagonist Alus Reigin. Yūsuke Suzuki, known for his work on This Monster Wants to Eat Me, is directing the anime at HOTLINE. Gigaemon Ichikawa is in charge of series scripts, Yūki Kitajima is handling the character design, and Takatoshi Hamano is the sound director.

Izushiro began publishing the novels on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2015. Hobby Japan published the 20th novel volume on December 27. To commemorate the novels’ anime adaptation, a prequel manga titled The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan Zero -The Secret History of the Beginning- is set to launch this winter.

J-Novel Club is publishing the light novels in English and describes the story:

In a world where the Fiends run rampant… Magicmaster Alus Reigin, the young prodigy that has defeated more Fiends and reclaimed more of humanity’s lost territory than anyone else alive, requests retirement from military service at age 16. Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for upcoming “super action soccer” game CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS, dubbed “Battle of the Strongest.” The Battle of the Strongest trailer showcases Japan’s national team as they prepare to challenge elite teams in the World Youth Championship in CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS.

CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS launches August 28 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Digital pre-orders are available now, starting at $59.99 for the Standard Edition. A Deluxe Edition will be sold for $79.99 featuring the base game, Season Pass Bonus, and DLC Character Packs 1 to 3. CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS is the biggest Captain Tsubasa game yet with 22 national teams, over 110 playable characters, more than 150 new moves, and much more. In gameplay, players may use Max Actions and Super Moves to take risks for high rewards and use strategies to score goals and defend against the opposing team’s attacking plays. 

Yoichi Takahashi’s Captain Tsubasa manga series initially began in 1986. The series focuses on 11-year-old Tsubasa Ōzora, a talented soccer player who dreams of competing in the World Cup. The manga would go on to receive multiple anime adaptations, including Captain Tsubasa: Junior Youth Arc on Crunchyroll.
