Capcom Achieves Highest-Ever Fiscal Year Game Sales in Company’s History

Resident Evil Requiem leads Capcom sales

Capcom published its earnings summary for fiscal year ended March 2026, revealing that the company experienced record profits and the highest-ever game sales in Capcom’s history. Capcom also saw its 11th consecutive year of more than 10% in operating profit growth. 

According to Capcom, fiscal year 2026 brought the highest yearly game sales and profits in Capcom history, thanks in part to the highly successful release of Resident Evil Requiem. Operating profits were up 13%, and net sales increased by 15%. More than 59 million game units were sold in the last year.

Resident Evil Requiem is among one of the fastest-selling games in Capcom’s history at 7 million copies sold worldwide. Devil May Cry 5 continues to be an evergreen title for Capcom, with the company noting that the action game and the Resident Evil series led unit sales growth. Devil May Cry 5’s continued relevance in sales is likely attributed to the Netflix animated series. A recent rating points toward Devil May Cry 5 making its debut on Nintendo Switch 2 soon.

Resident Evil Requiem is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The Deluxe Edition is available with the Standard Edition ($69.99), a pack of five costumes, four weapon skins, two screen filters, two weapon charms, and much more. A Premium Steelbook Edition ($89.99) was also revealed featuring the full game, Deluxe Edition contents, and a limited-edition lenticular card. A special edition Resident Evil Requiem Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller ($99.99) with designs from the game and a gunmetal-black finish was also made available in the My Nintendo Store.

Hiro Mashima’s New Fairy Tail Manga Miniseries Launches on July 29

Fairy Tail manga creator Hiro Mashima has announced that his new manga miniseries will launch one week earlier on July 29. The Fairy Tail manga miniseries will begin in 2026’s 35th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine, since Mashima proceeded to complete the manga’s draft at a fast pace. 

In addition, a new Fairy Tail 20th anniversary special promotional video was released featuring the song “Snow Fairy” by FUNKIST. Further, Mashima confirmed that he will be conducting an autograph tour for fans in Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, and Fukuoka.

The latest anime in the series is Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which aired from July 2024 to January 2025 across two cours. All 25 episodes of the anime, along with the entire original Fairy Tail anime series, are streaming on Crunchyroll. The Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga is still ongoing, and Kodansha is publishing the series in English.

Falcom Reports 1227% Profit Growth Thanks to Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Success

Nihon Falcom has released its consolidated financial results for the first half of fiscal year ending in September 2026, revealing that the company experienced a massive increase in operating profit upwards of 1227% thanks to the international success of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and other game releases. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter became Falcom’s most successful game ever on Steam last September, but the financial results paint a grander picture of just how successful the game was.

According to Falcom, the company saw year-on-year growth across all metrics, with revenue rising by 153.9%. Sales were up 194.8% year-over-year, which were also attributed to Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. Falcom has revised its earnings forecast for the current fiscal year, which account for a 38.4% increase in revenue and 69.2% increase in operating profit.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch on September 17 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 versions will be available digitally and physically in the west, and in Japan, pre-orders include a digital copy for an HD remaster of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (not available for Steam). 

The Standard Edition will be available for $59.99 ($64.99 for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition). Players can transfer their save data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter to receive the “Classic Style SC” outfits for Estelle and Joshua Bright, which are based on the attire they wore in the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. Pre-orders for the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Golden Wings Edition are available now for $274.99 ($279.99 for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition) at Panax Store, while supplies last.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced its PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog for May 2026 featuring Star Wars Outlaws, Time Crisis, Red Dead Redemption 2, and much more. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members have access to this updated game catalog starting May 19, 2026.

Every month, PlayStation Plus Game Catalog brings several PlayStation 5 games to subscribers. Alongside a number of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games, PlayStation Plus members gain access to PlayStation VR2 titles and classics from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.

Marathon Season 2 Starts on June 2

Marathon Season 2 Starts on June 2

Bungie has announced that Marathon season 2 will start on June 2. An end of season 1 update will release on May 19.

The next update for Marathon will add guaranteed map events and keys, escalation in UESC forces, new balance changes, and increased faction progression. Further, Cryo Archive will now be available every day starting on May 21 until June 2. Additionally, the end of season 1 will bring ranked rewards for players depending on their final rank. Some of the rewards include a new Destroyer style, new emblems, new weapon cosmetics, a title, and more. Bungie has also revealed a reminder of what will and won’t be reset after the season ends:

  • Ranked Level
  • Faction Level and Upgrades
  • Credits and other currencies (Exceptions: LUX and SILK)
  • All items in your inventory and Vault
  • Purchases unlocked by Schemas

Echoes of the Flame Announced, Releases in Late 2026

Japanese developer Konno Tobari has revealed Echoes of the Flame, a new 2.5D RPG which will release between November and December 2026. The game boasts a story focus spread across two protagonists and turn-based combat.

Echoes of the Flame will be available on PC through Steam and was developed using RPG Developer Bakin. Konno Tobari will both develop and publish the game, which is available to wishlist now. English and Traditional Chinese language support for the game is not expected until 2027.

IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light has gone gold and that all development has come to an end before it releases on May 27. The game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on May 27, and for Switch 2 in summer 2026.

Recently, IO Interactive announced that it delayed the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light, stating that “007 First Light comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 27th, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer. Pokémon Winds and Waves Main Theme Recording Video Released

The Pokémon Company has released a main theme recording behind the scenes video for Pokémon Winds and Waves. The NHK Symphony Orchestra performs the theme for the upcoming new entry in the franchise. 

The trailer description describes the theme as one that “signals the beginning of a brand‑new adventure.” Check out the full performance of the Pokémon Winds and Waves main theme below:

 

The Pokémon Company revealed Pokémon Winds and Waves, which marks the series’ 10th generation, in February 2026. Both games will release simultaneously worldwide in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2. The first trailer for both games teased new variants of Pikachu that wear unique costumes. While little details about the region that they will highlight are known, the first look teases jungles, beaches, lava areas, and the wide open sea. It also teases that underwater areas may be fully explorable. Additionally, it reveals the three starters for both Winds and Waves. Browt is a grass chicken, Pombon is a fiery pomeranian, and Gecqua is a water gecko. More details about the region, unique Pokémon, and mechanics will surface at a later date. 

The announcement came courtesy of the recent Pokémon Presents presentation, which commemorated the 30th anniversary of the franchise. As part of the celebration, Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen are available today on Nintendo Switch for $19.99 each. Recently, Pokémon Champions and Pokémon Pokopia also released on Nintendo Switch. The latter will be available for those who purchase a Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle, which allows players to choose between Pokopia, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Mario Kart World as a free pack-in game for the system. 

Gang of Dragon Official Website Goes Offline

Following reports of NetEase Games ceasing funding of Nagoshi Studio, the official website for the Toshihiro Nagoshi-led development studio has been taken offline. This doesn’t spell good news for Nagoshi Studio and its new Japanese action game Gang of Dragon, as the game could be on the verge of cancellation if not already. The only way to visit the website at the time of this writing is through Wayback Machine.

Originally revealed at The Game Awards 2025, Gang of Dragon is Nagoshi Studio’s first in-house game, which stars South Korean and American actor Ma Dong-seok.

The Steam page for Gang of Dragon is still live and descrives the game as follows: 

An action-adventure set in Kabukicho, the iconic nightlife district of Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Shin Ji-seong — portrayed by renowned Asian actor Ma Dong-seok — is a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate based in Kabukicho. Nagoshi Studio was founded in November 2021 as a subsidiary to NetEase Games, led by former SEGA COO and Yakuza series director Toshihiro Nagoshi. Former SEGA and Yakuza staff also joined the studio, such as producers Daisuke Sato and Kazuki Hosokawa. The studio aims to deliver high-end games with worldwide releases as their primary focus.
