2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards Teams Up with Museum of the Moving Image for Screening and Watch Party

Crunchyroll is teaming up with Museum of the Moving Image to host a free live watch party of the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, the tenth iteration of the annual anime celebration and awards show, at the Museum’s grand Redstone Theater in Astoria, New York on Saturday, May 23. There will also be a gallery screening program on view from May 15 to October 12.

Opening at 3:00 a.m. EST, the Museum will host a 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards free live watch party for New York audiences, starting with the pre-show at 4:00 a.m. EST. The main event follows 5:00 a.m., but fans are encouraged to visit as soon as doors open in order to view the gallery program, enjoy refreshments, and take photos in cosplay before the livestream begins. The event will be free and open to the public, and MoMI and Crunchyroll members get RSVP access, with more details to be announced soon.

The screening program is titled Anime’s Ascendant Decade, and it’s presented in the Museum’s Jane Henson Amphitheater. The program will feature full episodes from Crunchyroll Anime Awards–nominated and -winning series from 2017 to the present. Each episode will play on continuous loop in the gallery for a two-week period, and the selected anime will be announced on the Museum’s website. What’s more, the Museum will present a mural-size artwork by Japanese manga artist Acky Bright.

The 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards will be held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo on Saturday, May 23, with Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions supporting Crunchyroll in the execution of the event. A pre-show will be held on May 23 at 5:00 p.m. JST, followed by the live ceremony at 6:00 p.m. JST. Fans can vote every day through April 15 on the Anime Awards Official WebsiteCrunchyroll, and MyAnimeList. GRAMMY-winning artist The Weeknd will present the Anime of the Year award at the awards show.

Arc System Works has revealed patch notes for Guilty Gear Strive update 2.01, which will introduce the new Blazing Pass reward system. Starting with Guilty Gear Strive update 2.01 and Season 5 on May 14, players can purchase a Blazing Pass Plus to earn additional premium rewards on top of the standard free rewards that players can earn. Final Weapon reviewed DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA and gave it a 4 out of 5 score, noting its an “addictive free-to-play 4v4 team battle game that combines the rich history of Dragon Ball with MOBA elements. Players can take advantage of a respectable roster of characters from across the Dragon Ball universe to battle it out online, and there are also plenty of features that let friends play each other with a variety of options and features at their disposal. Despite some of the roster omissions at launch, there’s a solid foundation for a game that could keep Dragon Ball fans entertained for years to come.”

Nippon Ichi Software has released Yomawari: The Long Night Collection for PlayStation 5 in Japan, marking the collection’s debut on PlayStation platforms. Yomawari: The Long Night Collection includes Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, both of which were originally released on PS Vita in Japan. 

Yomawari: The Long Night Collection is currently available now for Nintendo Switch worldwide. The PlayStation 5 version is discounted to 3,839 yen in the PlayStation Store for PlayStation Plus subscribers through May 29, after which the price will increase to 7,678 yen.

The official website for the upcoming anime adaptation of writer Kei Misawa and artist Natsu Mizuno’s The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me Yet Showers Me with Adoration (“Kimi o Koi Suru Ki wa Nai” to Itta Jiki Kōshaku-sama ga Nazeka Dekiai Shitekimasu) manga announced two new cast members.

The new cast members for The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me Yet Showers Me with Adoration include:

Misawa and Mizuno launched the manga series on the BookLive digital bookstore in February 2021. Flex Comix publishes the manga series in print, and the fifth compiled book volume will launch on March 13. Flex Comix also publishes the manga in English on digital platforms, such as Amazon.

Nintendo has announced that The Legend of Zelda film will now release on April 30, 2027, instead of its previous release date of May 7. It’s now releasing one week earlier after it was previously delayed from March 26 to May 7. 

In a post, Shigeru Miyamoto himself said the following: “This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.” Considering the film recently wrapped filming and its new release date, it’s likely that more news about the cast, story, and perhaps a first look at footage for The Legend of Zelda movie will surface soon. 

The movie will star Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Previously, Shigeru Miyamoto showcased the official designs for both characters via a social media post. Link’s design features his iconic green tunic, minus the classic hat. He also has blonde hair, which separates him from previous designs in the franchise. Zelda has her blue outfit from Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, as well as her brown-haired look from Twilight Princess. Wes Ball directs the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. In the past, Ball directed The Maze Runner franchise and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Lastly, according to new reports from Video Games Chronicle and credible leaker Natethehate, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will release in 2026.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure Update 2.16 ‘Garden Wishes’ Now Available on Apple Arcade

Sanrio and Sunblink are celebrating their second-ever win as the Webby People’s Voice award winner in the Kids & Family category for Hello Kitty Island Adventure by releasing the game’s newest update, update 2.16 “Garden Wishes,” on Apple Arcade. The update is coming soon to the PC and console versions with tons of new free content. 

Running through June 18, Hello Kitty Island Adventure update 2.16 “Garden Wishes” bring the Under the Sea Celebration, allowing players to collect Barnacles and exchange them for new mermaid-themed outfits. The update also introduces the Undersea Treasure Hunt, which includes new furniture and outfits, and players can participate in new Weekly Parties on Friendship Island. The update also brings a visual overhaul to the coral regions in Rainbow Reef and a new Text-to-Speech feature, which was highly requested by players. Text-to-Speech is one of the game’s next major steps in accessibility.

The City Town DLC for Hello Kitty Island Adventure launched on April 16. The update marked the in-game debut of U*SA*HA*NA, who shows players around City Town, makes new friends, and lends a hand in renovating the player’s Imagination Cafe. There are 35 unlockable friendship levels with U*SA*HA*NA with a boatload of rewards. City Town itself is a new region with more than 30 hours of adventure and more than 90 quests.
