June 2024 has officially begun, and with it, the next iteration of Summer Game Fest is upon us. For the first time in years, we are in a relatively unknown period, with very little information about the games that will release later this year and beyond. What we do know, however, is what events will be present during the upcoming season. Here’s a schedule and an overview of everything fans can expect from Summer Game Fest 2024.
Summer Game Fest 2024 Schedule
Summer Game Fest technically began last week with PlayStation’s State of Play. The event, held on May 30, featured several announcements such as a new trailer for Monster Hunter: Wilds, a new Dynasty Warriors game, and a brand new Astro Bot game set to release in fall 2024. Updates for announced titles from State of Play are expected at Summer Game Fest.
Friday, June 7
However, Summer Game Fest 2024 will properly begin this week, on Friday, June 7, with the Summer Game Fest live show. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event will begin at 2:00 PM PDT/5:00 PM EDT, and will last for two hours. The showcase will include several announcements from ATLUS, Remedy Entertainment, and more. Fans can watch it on the event’s official YouTube and Twitch account.
Later in the day, at 4:00 PM PDT/7:00 PM EDT, Day of the Devs will be held. The event will focus on indie games. To end the day, the Devolver Direct will premiere at 5:00 PM PDT/8:00 PM EDT.
Saturday, June 8
On June 8, the Future of Play Direct will be held at 8:00 AM PDT/11:00 AM EDT. At 9:00 AM PDT/12:00 PM EDT, the Wholesome Direct will premiere, focused on “emotionally resonant video games that inspire optimism, joy, and introspection.”
At 10:00 AM PDT/1:00 PM EDT, an event focused on Latin American developers will premiere, titled the Latin America Games Showcase. A similar event will begin at 11:30 AM PDT/2:30 PM EDT, which will focus on Women-Led studios and developers. To round out June 8, the Future Games Showcase will start at 12:00 AM PDT/3:00 PM EDT. Sunday, June 9
On June 9, only two events will be held: the Xbox Games Showcase at 10:00 AM PDT/1:00 PM EDT. The event will feature several announcements and trailers, likely focused on games such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Avowed. Immediately after, a direct focused on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will premiere. At 1:00 PM PDT/4:00 PM EDT, the PC Gaming Show will air. As the name indicates, it will focus exclusively on upcoming PC games.
Monday, June 10
At 12:00 PM PDT/3:00 PM EDT, the Ubisoft Forward event will air. The event will focus on several upcoming Ubisoft games, such as Assassins Creed: Shadows, Star Wars: Outlaws, XDefiant, and more.
A New Nintendo Direct is Coming
Finally, it’s worth noting that a Nintendo Direct will air at some point in June 2024. The event will focus on upcoming games that will release in the latter half of 2024. While a new Nintendo console is in the works, don’t expect to see new details about the console at the upcoming direct. Nintendo will likely reveal more about the next Direct in the coming days and weeks.
