Sony has announced the next PlayStation State of Play will air on Thursday, May 30. The presentation will begin at 5 PM CST and last for around 30 minutes. For many, this presentation has been rumored all month, and it appears that Sony is finally set to share a glimpse at the rest of 2024 for PlayStation 5.
In an official blog post about the presentation, Sony said the following:
”State of Play is back! Tune in live for updates on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year.
The 30+ minute show features 14 titles, and begins May 30 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET | May 31 12am CEST / 7am JST on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. See you then!”
Many expect this to be a major presentation for Sony. As of now, the company does not have any more titles dated for 2024. The only dated title we know of is Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which is set to release next year. A recent interview with Hideo Kojima confirmed that the game is in the last year of development.
Following a report last week, we do expect to see Team Asobi’s Astro Bot title unveiled for the first time. This game is rumored to feature a playable desert environment at one point, with a fennec fox robot as a new character. Additionally, it is said that this title is made for PlayStation 5, not PlayStation VR2. Besides this new Astro Bot title, we could see several games at the event. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater made an appearance last year at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2023. With the game set to launch later this year, it is likely we could see the title drop a release date here. The same can also be said with Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake.
