Astro Bot Announced for PlayStation 5; Releasing on September 6

    An incredible first trailer.

Team Asobi has shared the first look at its next title, Astro Bot, at today’s State of Play. This new 3D platformer brings Astro back for a brand-new adventure on September 6 for PlayStation 5, with all kinds of bosses and worlds to explore! Pre-orders for Astro Bot will open on June 7.

The game features six galaxies spanning over 80 levels, as the titular protagonist searches for his crew. Astro will explore lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes, and otherworldly locales on unique planets. Over 15 new abilities will incorporate the DualSense controller, and more than 70 new enemy types will be present.

According to PlayStation Blog, the game is full of “die-and-retry” levels that will test players looking for a challenge. The trailer highlighted many areas and features that were not included in Astro’s Playroom, which was bundled in with every PlayStation 5 console. However, familiar nods to PlayStation icons and hardware were spotted.

Today’s PlayStation State of Play kicks off a month-long string of announcements from the entire video games industry. Nintendo has also confirmed it will showcase new games with a June Nintendo Direct, but a date has not been confirmed at this time.
