Ratatan Has Been Delayed to October 15

RATATAN delayed

TVT, Ratata Arts and Game Source Entertainment have delayed the release of Ratatan, the rhythm-based roguelike game from the creators of Patapon, to October 15 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Ratatan was originally planned to release on July 16, the developers determined that more time was needed in order to fix bugs and further polish the game, resulting in the game being delayed.

Here’s the full message regarding the delay from Ratata Arts and producer Kazuto Sakajiri:

Hello RataTEAM

We have a few very important developments that we’d like to go through.

First off, we are sorry for the radio silence, but as with most games, getting close to the finish line means a lot of extra work, bug fixes, and overall unseen problems, so the entire team has been focused on those.

During this period, it became clear that in order to reach the maximum quality with the game we would need an extended amount of time for bug fixing and polish. Due to these changes the new release date for all versions will be October 15th, 2026. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

We know no one likes delays but it will help us make the best game possible. Sakajiri-san, the executive producer of the game, would like to say the following:

First I would like to send my heartfelt gratitude to all the backers who have supported us so far.

This game was only made possible through the initial support on Kickstarter.

Though the trials and tribulations of developing the game, it has been the backers’ support that has kept us going.

Unfortunately, we just need a little extra development time and had to delay the release of the game.

I’m truly sorry about this delay for all the backers that have been waiting patiently so far.

In our initial development plan we didn’t expect to do Early Access and then adjust the game to the level that we did based on that feedback. Of course, due to that feedback, RATATAN is even better than we planned.

However, online support, building the game out for a large number of platforms, and improving the overall game experience has meant that we needed more development time.

We looked at all the choices and decided that we’d rather make the best game we can through delaying the release.

I do strongly believe that due to this delay we can make the best product possible and plan to put our all into it.

For me, everyone here isn’t just a backer, they are a friend who has helped us build the game along the way.

RATATAN only exists thanks to your support.

I sincerely apologize for the delay but have the utmost confidence in releasing a great game on October 15th.

We will do everything we can to make this great so thank you so very, very much for your understanding.

Producer

Kazuto Sakajiri

Final Fantasy XV ‘Remake’ is ‘Under Consideration’ for Switch 2

Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix’s 46th annual shareholders’ meeting brought some interesting tidbits of information regarding a possible “remake” of Final Fantasy XV for  Nintendo Switch 2. In response to a shareholder’s inquiry about Final Fantasy XV for Switch 2, Square Enix stated that the game is being considered, as spotted by @3_dburn (shareholder’s identity was kept hidden).

In one interpretation of the inquiry from @Cammy_Dalamud on X (formerly Twitter), there was mention of potential hardware constraints.

“There are hardware constraints, but from a specification standpoint it is not completely impossible, so it is under consideration,” Square Enix said.

However, this response seems to be in reference to an original Nintendo Switch version of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Early in the Nintendo Switch’s lifecycle, a native version of Final Fantasy XV was being considered. However, this did not come to fruition due to hardware constraints and the then-current Luminous Engine, which didn’t receive native support on Switch from what has been publicly disclosed.

Final Fantasy XV first released on November 29, 2016, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC (Steam) release followed up on March 6, 2018. The game received DLC support until the release of Episode Ardyn on March 25, 2019.

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition came to Android and iOS as a “demake” version of the original game on February 8, 2018. A PC version released on June 6, 2018, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 7, 2018. A Nintendo Switch version released on September 13, 2018, and it’s the only way players can experience the story of Final Fantasy XV on the portable system.
