Nintendo published its earnings release for the quarter ending on December 31, 2024, revealing that the Nintendo Switch sales surpassed 150 million worldwide, at exactly 150.86 million. At 150 million, the Nintendo Switch becomes the second best-selling home console of all time behind the legendary PlayStation 2.
4.82 million Nintendo Switch hardware units were sold in the third quarter of fiscal year ending in March 2025. In addition, 53.7 million software units were sold on Nintendo Switch in the same quarter. This brings the grand total of Nintendo Switch software units sold to 1.359 billion.

Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in 2025, and it will be backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch games and support Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo Switch 2 features a new stand, new magnetic joycons, a mysterious new button, and a new dock and handheld base.
