Super Smash Bros Ultimate will host a new Spirits event on March 21 to celebrate the release of Princess Peach Showtime! and Super Mario Bros Wonder. The event will last for five days with new Spirits from the Nintendo Switch games.
Over 33 million copies of Super Smash Bros Ultimate by the end of 2023, and multiple new Spirit events have been held in 2024 thus far. The latest Super Smash Bros game also received a new update (version 13.0.2) on February 14, adding support for the new Sora amiibo that launched two days later. This update was likely the very last one for the game, since Sakurai is moving on from the game once and for all.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Princess Peach Showtime! Spirits Event
From March 21 to March 26, Super Smash Bros Ultimate players may earn Princess Peach: Showtime! and Super Mario Bros Wonder Spirits from a new Spirit Board event. Defeating these Spirits in battle allows players to earn more gold than usual, according to Nintendo. Of course, defeating the Spirit adds them to a player’s collection.

The latest Super Smash Bros entry was released on December 8, 2018, for Nintendo Switch. Two Fighter’s Pass expansions were released, adding a total of twelve new fighters to the game. The game’s roster is dream-like, with characters like Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Joker from Persona 5, and many more. Over one hundred stages and one thousand music tracks are featured in the game alongside its 89 fighters.
In 2024, Super Smash Bros series director Masahiro Sakurai is “wrapping up” his YouTube channel. He’s committed to creating and developing new games in the future, so he may be working on an all-new game right now.
The recent release of the Sora amiibo means all 89 fighters have been made into an amiibo figure, completing the base and DLC rosters. Sakurai thanked fans for their support over the past five and half years, as his work is done with Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
