    Nintendo Switch Sales Exceed 139 Million Worldwide

    The third quarter of fiscal year ending in March 2024.

    Nintendo published its earnings release for the quarter ending on December 31, 2023, revealing that the Nintendo Switch sales reached 139.36 million worldwide. Updated sales figures for Nintendo Switch software were also revealed.

    6.9 million Nintendo Switch hardware units were moved in the third quarter of fiscal year ending in March 2024. Moreover, 66.87 million software units were sold on Nintendo Switch in the same quarter, bringing the grand total to 1.2 billion software units.

    2023 was the greatest year of overall engagement for Nintendo Switch with 122 million annual users. Global sell-through of the Nintendo Switch OLED was also the strongest in its short history. Super Mario Bros. Wonder was a standout title with 10.7 million copies in global sell-through in the third quarter, with 11.96 million copies sold in total. 

    What’s more, Pikmin 4 proved to be a highly successful title at 3.33 million copies sold. This means that Pikmin 4 is the highest selling and fastest selling game in the franchise. Nintendo also emphasizes the presence of evergreen titles on Nintendo Switch, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at a whopping 60.58 million copies sold.

    • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury – 13.17 million
    • Nintendo Switch Sports – 12.48 million

    • Super Mario Bros. Wonder – 11.96 million (New)
    • Splatoon 3 – 11.71 million
    • Pikmin 4 – 3.33 million
    • Super Mario RPG – 3.14 million (New)

    Nintendo continues its plans to expand IP outside of traditional video games as well, with Super Nintendo World serving as a prime initiative. The company plans to open the Donkey Kong Country area this spring at Universal Studios Japan. In 2025, Nintendo and Universal will open Super Nintendo World at the upcoming Universal Epic Universe.
