Nintendo Has No Plans for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom DLC

Moving onto the next new work.

In a new interview with Famitsu, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom producer Eiji Aonuma confirms that Nintendo currently has no plans to add DLC to the highly successful title. Aonuma and director Hidemaro Fujibayashi share the exact reasons why this is the case.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is already one of the most successful Nintendo Switch games of all time. In the previous financials report, Nintendo confirmed that 18.51 million copies of the game were sold from a month’s time.

No Plans for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom DLC

Aonuma believes that Nintendo has done everything it could to create fun in the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. As a result, there are no plans to create additional content such as DLC. The producer believes the next work will be an entirely new Zelda game, so he hopes fans look forward to it. Director Fujibayashi shares a similar sentiment, stating that Nintendo is grateful that so many players continue to play Tears of the Kingdom

“There are no plans to release additional content this time, but that’s because I feel like we’ve done everything we can to create fun in that world,” Aonuma said. In the first place, the reason I decided to make this a sequel to the previous work was because I thought there was value in experiencing a new game in that Hyrule place. If that’s the case, if a new reason arises, we might return to the same world again. Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it’s going to be a completely new game, so I hope you’re looking forward to it.”

Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi added, “We are very grateful that so many customers have been playing Tears of the Kingdom for so long and deeply, so we will do our best to make the next game even more enjoyable.”
