    Super Smash Bros Ultimate Version 13.0.2 Adds Sora Amiibo Support

    Nintendo announced the Super Smash Bros Ultimate version 13.0.2 update is now available on Nintendo Switch, featuring support for the new Sora amiibo.

    Over 33 million copies of Super Smash Bros Ultimate by the end of 2023, despite the lack of new DLC. 2024 may prove to be an intriguing year for the game, as Nintendo are hosting multiple new Spirits events throughout the year. In addition, Sora from Kingdom Hearts finally arrives in amiibo form to complete the Super Smash Bros Ultimate amiibo collection.

    Super Smash Bros Ultimate Version 13.0.2

    The Super Smash Bros Ultimate version 13.0.2 update brings support for the Sora amiibo, which launches on February 16. Patch notes for the update are available below, via Nintendo’s support website:

    General

    • Updates for compatibility with the Sora amiibo, which is scheduled to be released soon.

    The most recent Spirit Board event began on February 9 with multiple Spirits from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. These Spirits include: 

    • Starter Pokémon: Fuecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly
    • Miraidon and Koraidon
    • Ogerpon
    • Terapagos

    The event only lasted for five days. During Spirit Board events, defeating the new Spirits in battle will award more gold than usual. As a reminder, gold may be used to purchase new music, Mii costumes, Spirit, and snacks for Spirits from the Vault Shop.

    Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released on December 8, 2018, for Nintendo Switch. Two Fighter’s Pass expansions were released, adding a total of twelve new fighters to the game. The game’s roster is dream-like, with characters like Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Joker from Persona 5, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, and many more. Over one hundred stages and one thousand music tracks are featured in the game alongside its 89 fighters. 

    In 2024, Super Smash Bros series director Masahiro Sakurai is “wrapping up” his YouTube channel. He’s committed to creating and developing new games in the future, so he may be working on an all-new game right now.
