The job system may not technically exist in the first Final Fantasy, but you do select your main party’s jobs at the very start. You can upgrade your party’s jobs by completing a side quest! Use our Final Fantasy Job Upgrade Guide to learn all about it!
Class Upgrades
Job Upgrades improve your stats, expand your usable gear, and also gets you some new abilities!
- Warrior -> Knight (gains the ability to use some White Magic)
- Thief -> Ninja (gains the ability to use some Black Magic)
- Monk -> Black Belt
- Black Mage -> Black Wizard
- White Mage -> White Wizard
- Red Mage -> Red Wizard
Bahamut
Bahamut can be found in the Cardia Isles, which can be accessed when you acquire the airship. The Cardia Isles are located to the west of the huge desert where you get the airship. Bahamut will grant the Warriors of Light even more power if they can bring him a token that proves their courage and righteousness.
Rat’s Tail
The Citadel of Trials is directly northeast of the Cardia Isles on the nearest continent. This is a short dungeon with the Rat’s Tail in it. Take it back to Bahamut to get your Upgrades!
