Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Reach 19.86 Million Units

Nintendo published its earnings release for the fourth quarter of fiscal year ended on March 31, 2026, confirming that Nintendo Switch 2 reached 19.86 million units in global sell-through. Nintendo also announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a price increase due to “changes in market conditions.”

Roughly 2.49 million Switch 2 units were sold from January 1 to March 31, resulting in a total of 19.86 million units sold. In the same quarter, 10.78 million Switch 2 software units were sold.

As for the original Nintendo Switch, it’s the best-selling Nintendo hardware of all time at 155.92 million. 0.55 million Switch hardware units were sold in the fourth quarter, in addition to 27.98 million software units.

Bandai Namco Filmworks has released a new trailer and key visual for the sixth Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 film, which opens in Japanese theaters on June 26. The sixth Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 film is titled Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth).

The 5th Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 film, titled Hakunetsu no Ginga Taisen (The Incandescent Galactic War), premiered on February 20 in theaters in Japan.

Naomichi Yamato directs the film series. Additionally, Harutoshi Fukui is the supervising director, head writer, and scriptwriter. Hideki Oka was the co-scriptwriter, and Nobuteru Yūki is the character designer. Further, Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and Yasushi Ishizu were credited for mechanical designs. Hiroyuki Gotō is the CG producer, Shōsuke Uechi is the CG director, and Tomohiro Yoshida is the sound director.

Gamilans are facing their biggest hurdle yet: their planet is dying at an alarming pace. PlayStation 5 Sales Reach 93.7 Million Units Worldwide

Sony Interactive Entertainment has released its financial results for the three months ended on March 31, 2026, revealing that PlayStation 5 sales have reached a total of 93.7 million units worldwide.

The PlayStation 5 sales show that only 1.5 million units were sold from January 1 to March 31, which is down 0.9 million from the same period during the previous fiscal year. 125 million active users were on PlayStation Network as of December 31, which is up 1 million from the same period exactly one year ago. However, this total is down 7 million from the 132 million active users recorded from the quarter ended on December 31, 2024.

Combined PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 software sales reached 74.6 million units during the fourth quarter, resulting in a 1.5 million decrease year-over-year. 5.8 million of the software sales were first-party games, which is down 100,000 units from the same period in the previous fiscal year. Further, 85% of the software sales were full game digital downloads, resulting in a 5% year-over-year increase from the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Previously, Sony had confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei reached 3.3 million copies sold as of November 2—32 days after the game’s initial release. Ghost of Yōtei is available now for PlayStation 5, and it’s still not available on PC at the time of this writing. Final Weapon reviewed Ghost of Yōtei and gave it a 4/5 score, noting that the game is “a great evolution by the foundation that Sucker Punch built with Ghost of Tsushima.”

Steam Controller Reservations Open on May 8

Valve has announced that reservations for the newly released Steam Controller will open on May 8 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. Steam users who sign up for reservations will be placed in a queue that will notify them of new Steam Controller stock via email once it’s available. Reservations are limited to one Steam Controller per user, and users have 72 hours to make a purchase once available.

Steam Controller launched on May 4th, and while we were happy to see such a high level of interest, the experience for a lot of you trying to buy it was incredibly frustrating. We plan to continue replenishing stock as we get more in, but in the meantime wanted to share changes we’re making to improve the purchase experience and to limit reseller activity:

Beginning May 8th at 10 am Pacific, we’re opening a reservation queue for Steam Controller. Once you reserve, your place in line will be saved. When we go back in stock, order emails will be sent in the same order that reservations were made.

Here are the details on how we’re hoping to improve the experience overall while also taking steps to limit reseller activity:

Reservation details:

      • Reservations will be limited to one Steam Controller per user.
      • Once you receive an order email, you have three days (72 hours) to make your purchase on Steam.
      • For now, customers who have already purchased a Steam Controller are not yet eligible to reserve another Steam Controller.

Additionally:

      • Your account must be in good standing on Steam
      • You must have made a purchase on Steam prior to April 27, 2026

Replenishment of inventory will vary from region to region. We will start fulfilling reservations next week in the US / Canada, and UK / EU / AU in the following weeks.

The Steam Controller launched on May 4 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET with a $99 MSRP on Steam. Steam users began to notice technical issues and long wait times while orders were processed, and at times, users were unable to add Steam Controller to cart entirely due to it being sold out.

Tokyo Stories Gets New ‘The Night Moves Again’ Trailer

Publisher Happinet and developer Drecom have released a new trailer for upcoming pixel art adventure game Tokyo Stories, dubbed “The Night Moves Again.” A playable demo for Tokyo Stories will be available at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto, and in a new Steam blog post, Happinet confirmed that CharacterBank is assisting the development of the game.

The official website for the TV anime adaptation of Minoru Toyoda’s Draw This, Then Die! manga confirmed the anime’s July 3 premiere during NTV’s “Friday Anime Night” programming block at 11:30 p.m. JST. A new trailer was also released, revealing the opening theme song “Isho” by Tatsuya Kitani.

Story
