SEGA revealed new artwork to celebrate the first anniversary of Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, which launched on April 4, 2024 for Apple Arcade. The Puyo Puyo series developers at SEGA hope fans look forward to more from the franchise following the 1st anniversary of Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop.

Before the game’s launch, Final Weapon interviewed producer Mizuki Hosoyamada to discuss the growth of the Puyo Puyo series, the development of Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, and working with Apple. Hosoyamada also discussed his love of the SEGA Dreamcast and classic titles, such as Virtua Fighter, SEGA Rally, Crazy Taxi, SpikeOut, and Sports Jam, and much more games.
The past September, SEGA released Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop update 1.6.0 with three new rulesets to the game: Dig, Frozen, and Spinner. Update 1.6.0 also adds two BGM tracks to the shop. These two arrangements are fan-favorites from the main Puyo Puyo series. What’s more, the update applied bug fixes to improve the overall experience.
SEGA recently announced Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, a new version of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 launching on June 5 for Nintendo Switch 2. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S features a new Puyo Tetris Doubles mode, which has 2v2 battles with pairs on a single board. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is currently available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The Puyo Puyo Tetris series surpassed 3 million copies sold as of December 2023, including worldwide physical shipments and digital copies sold.
