Nintendo Switch Online – Game Boy Adds Donkey Kong Land

An overlooked Game Boy classic returns.

Nintendo announced that classic Game Boy title Donkey Kong Land is now available for the Nintendo Switch Online – Game Boy app on the console. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers simply need to start up the app and have the latest version to start playing Donkey Kong Land.

Here’s an overview of Donkey Kong Land, along with the launch trailer, courtesy of Nintendo:

Cranky Kong challenges you to find the banana hoard—again! Cranky Kong doesn’t think Donkey Kong has proven himself to be a hero yet. So, he decides to work out a deal with the closest villain that he knows. K. Rool and his baddies have hidden bananas in new places across Donkey Kong Island in another attempt to outwit the best-friend duo. And the only response is for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to go off on another adventure!

Previously, Nintendo added both Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil to the Nintendo Switch Online – Nintendo 64: MATURE 17+ collection. These games are playable on a separate app from the standard Nintendo Switch Online – Nintendo 64 app.

Nintendo regularly adds more games to the Nintendo Switch Online service, including classic Game Boy and SNES games. Subscribers may upgrade to the Expansion Pack tier for access to Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games. This year saw the additions of Microsoft’s Rare catalog, Mother 3 (Japan only), Super R-Type, F-ZERO Maximum Velocity, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, the Starfy series, and much more.
