    Square Enix & Ryota Kikuchi Share Piano Cover of Let the Battles Begin!

    Square Enix has shared a new piano cover of “Let the Battles Begin!” from Final Fantasy VII on YouTube this morning. This theme is the iconic battle theme that plays at the very first battle in the game. The cover was recorded and mixed by Mai Kondo at Landmark Studio for Square Enix.

    The cover is arranged and performed by Ryota Kikuchi. For those unfamiliar, Kikuchi is a well-known composer and performer that is popular on YouTube. This is not the first cover he’s performed and arranged for Square Enix, with him previously appearing for a performance of “Meridian Dance” from Secret of Mana.     For Final Fantasy VII fans, the Unknown Journey is set to continue next month. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will take players outside Midgar for the first time, with visits to iconic areas such as the Gold Saucer, Nibelheim, Corel, Junon, and more in order. A tremendous amount of information has been confirmed, including confirmation of non-playable Vincent & Cid, a “new episode with Zack,” the file size of the game, and more

    Leading up to launch, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will return to theaters in both Japan and the USA. A special short film will premiere alongside the movie, featuring new interviews with key FFVII creators. Director Naoki Hamaguchi, Producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura are likely to appear in the new film. 

    Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. The title will be exclusive to the platform until May 29, 2024. A Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition are available to pre-order now.
