VIZ Media and the Gotham Group have signed an agreement for the Gotham Group to develop adaptations of VIZ Originals properties for television and film. The agreement also includes the RWBY series which VIZ Media acquired in 2024.
The Gotham Group has previously produced series and films such as The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Maze Runner, Stargirl, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Its latest project, the film The Social Reckoning, will premiere on October 9 2026. Some graphic novels included in the line up of VIZ Originals are Devil’s Candy by Rem and Bikkuri, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, Lynx by Sam Sattin, and GalaXic Baseball League by Acky Bright.
The late Monty Oum originally created RWBY at Rooster Teeth. VIZ Media has owned RWBY since previous owner Rooster Teeth shut down in 2024. During its Anime Expo 2026 panel, VIZ Media announced that production for RWBY Volume 10 has been greenlit. A new trailer for RWBY Volume 10 was released featuring showrunner Kerry Shawcross and the voice actresses behind the iconic RWBY cast. The acquisition also included the distribution rights for video game, anime adaptations, publishing and streaming of music and manga, and future seasons of the main series.
