During an interview with Dengeki Online, Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that both Cid and Vincent will act as “accompanying characters” in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In other words, the two will not be playable in this game. They will be saved to become playable in part three of the Final Fantasy VII remake project.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to fans, especially after the tease of Vincent in last week’s trailer. The team has confirmed Cait Sith, Yuffie, and Red XIII to all be new playable party members in Rebirth. Vincent and Cid will act in the same vein as Red XIII in Final Fantasy VII Remake, where he was part of the party but not playable. Seven of the nine party members being playable is extremely exciting for any fan of the original.
