Rumor: SEGA’s reported development cost for Sakura Kakumei surpassed 3 billion yen, only reached 73 million yen in launch month sales and labeled a “catastrophe”

Things are not looking good again for SEGA and this time, it relates to their new mobile game, Sakura Kakumei. This is a new game in the Sakura Wars franchise by DelightWorks (Fate Grand Order), which recently released last month in Japan for iOS and Android. According to Business Journal, the game received poor sales in December and ranked around #215 in smartphone game sales average in Japan. Sakura Kakumei reportedly costs SEGA around 3 billion yen to develop and only reached 73 million yen in sales. According to game industry officials in Japan, Sakura Kakumei is labeled a “catastrophe” or a “fault”.

This looks grim for the new Sakura Wars mobile game. Hopefully, SEGA somehow turns this situation around for fans of the franchise if it’s true. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news and updates!
