Summer Game Fest 2026 Flagship Events
State of Play – June 2 at 2 PM PDT/5 PM EDT
PlayStation will reveal updates and announcements from both its first-party studios and third-party partners at its next State of Play on June 2. It will open with an extended look at Marvel’s Wolverine, which will release on September 15. Additionally, in the United States, the showcase will be available to watch at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide. Speculation has already begun to run rampant as people are hoping for a new look at Intergalactic: The Heretic Project, the next entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, or a return of a classic IP. Only time will tell what the upcoming State of Play will show off to the world. It will be available on the company’s YouTube and Twitch accounts.
Summer Game Fest 2026 Live Kickoff Showcase – June 5 at 2 PM PDT/5 PM EDT
Live from the Dolby Theatre, Geoff Keighley will once again host the centerpiece of Summer Game Fest, the SGF 2026 Live Kickoff showcase. The Summer Game Fest showcase will be streaming on both Twitch and YouTube. It will feature new looks at previously announced games, as well as world premieres for titles that have never been seen before. In the past, developers like Capcom, Square Enix, From Software, and more have revealed major new titles in its flagship during the event. While details about the exact games that will be shown are scarce, Geoff Keighley promises that this year will be the “biggest Summer Game Fest to date.” This year, fans who watch at least 30 minutes of the showcase with linked Warframe and Twitch accounts will earn a Twitch Drop containing a free Dante Warframe.
Day of the Devs – June 5 at 4 PM PDT/7 PM EDT
Immediately after Summer Game Fest Live, Double Fine and iam8bit will kick off the non-profit event, Day of the Devs. Day of the Devs will highlight new games, whether announced or unannounced, from indie developers all around the world. Previous iterations of the presentation have highlighted games such as Demon Tides, The Dungeon Experience, Neverway, Thick as Thieves, Relooted, and Virtue and a Sledgehammer. Those looking for unique games that aren’t usually highlighted by major publishers will undoubtedly find something great from Day of the Devs. It will air on both YouTube and Twitch right after the main Summer Game Fest showcase.
Xbox Games Showcase + Gears of War: E-Day Direct – June 7 at 10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT
The last major confirmed event during Summer Game Fest will be the Xbox Games Showcase + Gears of War: E-Day Direct. The presentation will likely include new looks at Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Persona 4 Revival, and undoubtedly more surprises that have yet to be revealed. This particular showcase will be momentous as it will mark the first that won’t be presented by former Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and former Xbox President Sarah Bond, but rather by new CEO Asha Sharma. While she has already made major changes to the Xbox brand recently, she will likely reveal even more on June 7 on Xbox’s official YouTube and Twitch accounts.
Partner Showcases
Alongside the major Flagship Events, and Community Spotlights dedicated to the lesser-known corners of the gaming world, Partner Showcases will also take place that specifically focus on various genres and platforms. These include the following:
- The MIX – June 2 at 9 AM PDT/12 PM EDT
- Wholesome Direct – June 6 at 9 AM PDT/12 PM EDT
- World premieres and updates for some of gaming’s most coziest titles.
- Streaming on YouTube.

- An event specifically focused on games that will be available on PC, Linux, Steam Deck, and Mac.

Will There Be a Nintendo Direct?
For months now, there have been rumors floating around about a Nintendo Direct in June 2026. Such rumors have stated that it will reveal a remake for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, alongside a potential first look at the next 3D Mario. In the coming months, Nintendo will also release Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and most notably, Star Fox. While Nintendo has yet to confirm whether it will premiere a new Nintendo Direct in June, the possibility of such an event is highly likely considering previous years and the fact there hasn’t been a new Direct since last September.
Regardless of Nintendo’s attendance at Summer Game Fest, we will be covering each of the events and announcements throughout the week and beyond here on Final Weapon. For in-depth coverage on everything Summer Game Fest 2026 has to offer, check out our official tag here.
