In a sudden Star Fox Direct, Nintendo announced Star Fox, a new Nintendo Switch 2 game based on the Star Fox Nintendo 64 game. Star Fox launches on June 25, and it will support the Nintendo Switch Online – Nintendo 64 controller, allowing players to play the game with a similar control scheme to the original. Pre-orders for Star Fox are available now in the Nintendo eShop for $49.99 digitally and $59.99 physically at retail and My Nintendo.
Star Fox fans will return to the Lylat System in the new Nintendo Switch 2 game with branching missions and routes, vastly improved graphics, and several new features, including 4v4 online multiplayer, pilot/gunner co-op, mouse controls, and “Easy,” “Normal,” and “Expert” difficulty modes. The game also features a new Challenge Mode for improved replayability and experiences, and there’s also avatar settings, which are supported with a compatible USB camera for GameChat. While in GameChat, players can embody Star Fox characters in Battle Mode.
While waiting on the new game, fans can try out the Star Fox 64 game with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The service lets players enjoy the classic title with exclusive rewind, CRT filter, and control features on Nintendo Switch 2. With the rewind feature, players can easily turn back the in-game clock and try again. The new CRT filter recreates the look of a CRT TV for Nintendo 64 games, and Nintendo Switch Online members can also view and change controls, thanks to the button remapping feature.
