Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the CEO of the company, Tero Virtala, has stepped down from his position in the company. While Remedy looks for a new CEO, Markus Mäki will serve as interim CEO.
Virtala has been CEO of the company since 2016. The reason for his departure is currently unknown. Mäki is one of the founders of the company, who has been a member of the board of directors since 1995. Due to his new appointment, Mäki will step down from his role as the Chairman of the Board and continue as an ordinary member of the Board. Henri Österlund will take his place as the new chairman of the board.
In a statement, Markus Mäki said the following about Virtala’s departure: “I want to thank Tero Virtala for his substantial contribution to the management of Remedy since 2016. I personally thank Tero for good cooperation and wish him all the best for the future.”
Recently, In a new financial report from Remedy Entertainment, the company shared a development on Control 2 and the Max Payne 1-2 remakes. Additionally, Remedy confirmed that Control has officially passed 5 million copies sold.
The financial report reveals that four games are currently in active development at Remedy: FBC: Firebreak, which will continue to receive new updates, Control 2, the Max Payne 1-2 remakes, and an unannounced “new project.” While details about this new project are scarce, it’s possible that it might be a new entry in the Alan Wake franchise. When speaking about both Control 2 and the Max Payne remakes, Remedy said that both games are still on track to meet its next milestones and continue to progress through full production.
