If you visited Gamescom 2026 for yourself recently, then you likely saw the giant Arknights: Endfield booth. It had massive statues of three bosses from the game, an elaborate boss challenge that attendees could take part in for rewards, and even performances that would happen somewhat regularly. It was without a doubt the most impressive zone in the entire venue. So, needless to say, I was more than happy to have the opportunity to get a closer look at not just the booth, but also the upcoming “Dreamscape of Wind and Snow” update for Arknights: Endfield.
“Dreamscape of Wind and Snow” takes place in the aptly named Snowy Forest, an ice-filled zone that is filled with various puzzles and new dangers. You will explore this area not just as the protagonist Endministrator, but also as the new Typhoeus operator. Typhoeus actually returns from the very first Arknights game that was released on mobile devices, and she still retains her Swedish-themed iconography and bow and arrow. She is a perfect fit for this new update.
Typhoeus’ bow is a treat to use in combat, at least from the short segment I played. It gives her a high range of motion that allows her to quickly maneuver around opponents, dealing both short-range and long-range damage. Her best utility can actually be found in mid-air, which not just give her a greater range at which to attack enemies, but also higher ground. Her special ability accompanies this, as it allows you to fire multiple arrows at a time at enemies. There were a few bugs around this ability, as it sometimes would not fire at all, but I was assured that this would be fixed in the full release.
Not only is her bow useful in combat, but it is also useful for puzzle solving. There are a few orbs that you can find in the distance that need to be fired at simultaneously in order to progress. You have to find the right spot in order to shoot them all at once. It may not be the most original puzzle, but it is still a fun one that gave me more opportunities to further appreciate the environment. Further, it also slowed down the fast-paced action vibe of some of the combat encounters, especially for boss fights. That is not necessarily a bad thing, as it is in these slow moments where this new update shines.
The snowy atmosphere is absolutely immaculate, and truly comes alive in the slower moments where you are just walking around and exploring. I managed to catch a bit of the new music created for the new update, and it also sounded great from the short snippet I heard. I am very curious to hear more when the soundtrack fully releases, not long after the new update. In addition, there are also some interesting story developments teased in this chapter. Andre, one of the Endministrator’s closest companions, has made a surprising return. As for what he is doing in the Forest, as well as what Typhoeus is looking for? Well, those answers are clearly being saved for the update’s full launch.
“Dreamscape of Wind and Snow” is shaping up to be a really impressive update, at least from the portion that I played. GRYPHLINE are clearly committed to supporting this game as much as possible in the coming months, if the massive booth and imminent Steam release are any indication. If you are already playing Arknights: Endfield, then you likely have plenty of reason to get excited for the new update. If not, then this may be the time to jump into the experience for yourself. The Arknights: Endfield “Dreamscape of Wind and Snow” update will launch on September 2 for Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and PC via Epic Games Store.
