Nintendo announced the 49th Maximus Cup event for Tetris 99 is themed after Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby’s Dream Buffet, and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. The event will last for four days from August 29 at 12:00 a.m. PDT to September 1 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
The Tetris 99 49th Maximus Cup gives players another chance to earn past in-game Kirby themes. Players need to earn 20 points for each theme in the event, which takes place over three rounds. Those wanting all three themes must earn a total of 60 points, with 20 per round. As a reminder, players will need to be Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in order to participate.
Nintendo released Tetris 99 in 2019 as a complementary title with Nintendo Switch Online memberships. As the name suggests, the game is a 99-player battle royale with the gameplay of Tetris. Past Maximus Cups have featured art and music from Pikmin 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, WarioWare: Move It, Super Mario Bros Wonder and more.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World will release on August 28 for Nintendo Switch 2. The game features a new expansion with its own story and all-new levels. There’s also three new Mouthful Modes: Spring Mouth, Gear Mouth, and Sign Mouth. To commemorate the upcoming launch of Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, Nintendo has gifted players with 800 Star Coins, 1 Rare Stone, and a Life Up. To earn these rewards, players must enter the code “READYTOGO” in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
