Chapter 16 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex greatly elevated the story to new heights. Not only do we learn more about Boruto’s unique Flying Raijin Jutsu and the optimal strategy to deal with Jura, but we also learn more about Sumire’s feelings towards Boruto. Additionally, it seems that Ryu and Matsuri are getting closer to locating Boruto’s whereabouts. So, what are the specific details about what’s going on? Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
What Happened in Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16?
The chapter starts with a flashback of Kashin Koji talking to Boruto in the cave from Chapter 13. He explains to the present Boruto how the future Boruto created his own version of the Flying Raijin Jutsu, originally created by his grandfather Minato. Boruto’s Ohtsutsuki flying ability, combined with chakra marking metal objects, allows him to replicate a Space-Time Ninjutsu. So now, a jutsu that Boruto invented six years later, is now learned immediately thanks to the conversation. However, Boruto wonders why Kashin Koji and he can’t help the others the same way Kashin helped him learn about the future.
The reality is that even with this newfound knowledge that present Boruto has, Kashin Koji reminds him that they both are singularities of fate. Because they are the only ones who know about the future, they become singularities of fate. Their sole purpose is to aid the paths to good futures, so it’s vital for both of them not to tell most folks about what’s really going on. The shocking reveal, though, is that it seems Eida is also a singularity of fate.
Recognizing Boruto’s Intent
Speaking of Eida, the chapter then transitions to her, Sarada, and Sumire’s whereabouts. Eida mentions to the party that it seems Boruto is trying to prevent unnecessary danger to Sarada and Sumire, which is the reason why he takes everything on by himself. Of course, Sarada has a problem with this because she cares about his safety. But Sumire brings up a smart point that perhaps the reason Boruto got hurt is because they all interfered. Sumire wants Sarada to put herself in Boruto’s shoes and understand that maybe it’s better if they don’t try to intrude much. Surely Boruto wouldn’t like to keep things away from them, so it only makes sense that Boruto knows something that they don’t.
Shockingly, though, this causes Sumire to go on a tangent and call out Sarada’s problem with not considering other people’s feelings. Apparently, Sumire felt jealous when Sarada ran up to hug Boruto because she likes him as well. She’s also tired of being referred to as only Class Rep by Sarada, so she just vented a whole lot of frustrations out of nowhere. This is an interesting development that I look forward to seeing how it develops over time.
The Land of Wind Mission
A little later, Eida fills in Shikamaru on the situation with Shinki and his new humanoid Divine Tree, Ryu. Once finding out that Ryu can easily defeat Gaara due to him having the ability to break Shinki’s seal, Shikamaru gets quickly concerned. The thing about it, though, is that Eida doesn’t want to watch things in real time anymore with her Senrigan. This is because one of the humanoid Divine Trees can look into her eyes while she is doing it.
All of a sudden though, a toad appears behind Eida to tell Shikamaru to send Konohamaru, Sarada, and Mitsuki to the Land of Wind. They must team up with other Sand ninjas to slay both Ryu and Matsuri because they will be showing up. Another point the toad brings is to not let Himawari outside of the village, as Jura will instantly kill her. The overall goal is not to provoke Jura, or else there is zero chance of success for the world. This is why the Land of Wind mission must happen; it serves as a distraction. Surely, this is Kashin Koji speaking with this toad, as he thanks Shikamaru for following his heart despite not having proof of the truth.
Ryu and Matsuri’s Striking Entrance
Wasting no time, Konohamaru, Sarada, Mitsuki, Yodo, and Araya make their way to their destination, where Ryu and Matsuri could be located. The good news is that Konohamaru locates them. The bad news is that a toad is left defeated on the ground between Ryu and Matsuri. This seems to be the key that will help the humanoid Divine Trees locate the whereabouts of Boruto and Kashin Koji.
Overall, I’m very curious to see if Konohamaru and the crew are capable of taking down both Ryu and Matsuri. Whatever happens, I trust that they are on the right path due to Kashin Koji’s instructions.
