Kingdom Hearts IV is currently being developed by Square Enix Creative Studio 1, according to Final Fantasy VII Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi in a recent interview at Deadline. Hamaguchi is currently leading development of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and his remarks do paint a clearer picture of Square Enix’s development and release pipeline for the immediate future. Kingdom Hearts IV and Final Fantasy VII Revelation are major titles that Square Enix are pushing for 2027, and according to Hamaguchi, he’s going to push both titles forward.
“In terms of Square Enix and 2027, our President, Takashi Kiryu, says that next year is the big fight back for us, where everything turns around,” Hamaguchi told Deadline. “And obviously, between Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Kingdom Hearts IV, those are massive titles that are going to push that. And both are being developed in my own studio, Creative Studio 1. So yeah, I’m really pumped up now for that. That’s really all on my watch now, so I’m going to be the guy who’s pushing all that forward.”
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch first on April 8, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Players with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will get bonuses in the game, including Summoning Materia: Chocobo & Moogle and Summoning Materia: Phoenix. Pre-orders are available now on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2.
Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in late 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. What’s more, the Kingdom Hearts: The Series anime was announced for Disney+ and Disney Channel with an all-new story by Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix.
The Kingdom Hearts series is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] on October 8. A demo for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind and pre-orders for Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] are available now. KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX will be available natively on Nintendo Switch, too.
