Nihon Falcom released its updated financials forecast and summary for fiscal year ending September 2024, revealing that the company is developing multiple Nintendo Switch games in-house. Falcom is also expanding its multi-platform and worldwide development efforts for home consoles, PC, and smartphones.
The new Nintendo Switch games will be self-published by Falcom in Japan, with one of them being The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st. Some of these games will be ported titles as well. As prior history has shown, it’s likely that The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- will come to Nintendo Switch, following the footsteps of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II CRIMSON SiN.
Falcom wants to take on challenges with both new and old IP. The company expects development costs to rise as they prepare to release multiple games in fiscal year ending September 2026, including the aforementioned new IPs. It’s also worth noting that Falcom is developing Tokyo Xanadu New Project, which doesn’t have a release date yet, along with some unannounced games.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st is currently planned for a worldwide release on Nintendo Switch (and/or its successor), and other platforms were not confirmed. However, it’s highly likely that it will come to PlayStation and PC platforms, as Falcom’s multiplatform strategy implies.
The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria-, the latest game in the Trails series, released on September 26 in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. As the prophesized 120X date draws near, various heroes are drawn to Calvard. This includes returning Class VII members like protagonist Rean Schwarzer, Crow Armbrust, and Altina Orion.
