SEGA’s Border Break Ends Service on September 9 in Japan

    Single-player offline content will remain.

SEGA announced free-to-play team based robot game Border Break will end service on September 9 in Japan. The game’s online features will shut down nearly five years after its initial launch on August 2, 2018.

SEGA updated its official website with a schedule for Border Break’s imminent shutdown. Fortunately, Border Break players will still have access to the main scenario, Borders scenario, and exhibition matches after the game’s service ends. However, online matchmaking, ranked matches, and several other online features will not longer be available. Additionally, a PlayStation Plus subscription will be required to play exhibition matches.

Here’s the schedule for Border Break’s shutdown, via Gematsu:

    • June 5 at 15:00 JST – Premium Service automatic renewals end
    • June 12 at 15:00 JST – Frame Lot price revisions
    • July 10 at 15:00 JST – New Core Seed sales end
    • August 14 at 15:00 JST – Ranked Matches end
    • September 9 at 15:00 JST – Service ends

SEGA confirms a refund period for unused Core Seeds and Premium Service subscriptions will be live from September 11 at 15:00 JST to November 30 at 15:00 JST. Further details about the refund process will be revealed at a later date on the official website. Although service of Border Break ends this year, SEGA thanks its fans for the continued support.

Lastly, Border Break is available now for PlayStation 4 in Japan.
