Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo recently discussed the long-running Trails and Ys franchises, revealing what fans may expect in The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 3 (tentative name). Kondo also discussed the company’s focus for 2023 ahead of two major releases.
The Next Trails Game and Focus of 2023
In an interview at Gamer, Kondo said Falcom wants to develop the next Trails game as soon as possible. He doesn’t want fans to forget about the Trails franchise if Falcom takes too long to develop or begin developing the next Trails game. Kondo uses the release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC as an example. However, Ys will be the focus for 2023, and the development team needs to recover its energy.
Gameplay mechanics and systems of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 3 will be the same as the prior two games. Kondo says these returning systems will be “more sophisticated” than other titles, and more new ideas will be incorporated. Moreover, Falcom aims to provide an enjoyable experience in the next Trails title. The Falcom president hopes fans look forward to experiencing the Kuro no Kiseki story to the very end (Thanks, NoisyPixel).
