Falcom shared an interesting quote from company president Toshihiro Kondo regarding the Ys X: Nordics and concepts drafted for Ys Seven.
According to Kondo, he took over the desk of a Ys Seven scenario writer when he first joined Falcom. There were memos on the desk containing ideas for a Ys game that would take Adol Christin to the high seas. Those concepts were originally intended for Altago’s Five Great Dragons in Ys Seven, and the ideas resonated with Kondo ever since. Kondo is relieved that these concepts will finally become a reality in Ys X: Nordics (Thanks, Noisy Pixel).
Ys X: Nordics is the third chronological adventure for Adol, taking place shortly after Ys I and II. Adol is 17 years old, and he will form a special bond with the heroine of Ys X: Nordics. In the new title, Adol, the heroine, and the crew will travel the northern seas. In fact, the Nordics subtitle means “people of the north” according to Kondo.
More details about the upcoming title, including gameplay and a potential release date, will be revealed in early to spring 2023. Ys X: Nordics launches in 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
