Rumor: Game Boy/Game Boy Color games are joining the Switch Online service this fall, “other systems” possibly in the works

According to various sources including Nate The Hate (Direct Feed Games), Eurogamer and Nintendo Life claim that Game Boy games are coming to Switch Online soon (Thanks, VGC)! The addition of Game Boy games to the service also includes fan favorite Game Boy Color games. Over the years, Nintendo added custom emulator code to the Switch and have remained unused outside of NES and SNES games. The latest rumor also states that “other systems are in the works” for the service. Fortunately, it seems like this fall could be the time to finally see new legacy hardware added to the suite of Switch Online games. This is still a rumor though so its best to take a grain of salt. Fans will most certainly expect a Nintendo Direct coming soon which could land this month. A September Nintendo Direct could be the place to finally see Game Boy games join the service.
