Dr. Mario World generates $1.4 Million in player spendings; Trailing behind Nintendo’s other mobile games

According to a recent report from Sensor Tower, Dr. Mario World is trailing behind Nintendo’s other mobile games in revenue. Dr. Mario World is a puzzle solving game, released on iOS and Android. The game is pretty heavy with in-app purchases, which could be a reason for the lower sales.

The game, co-developed with Tokyo-based app maker LINE and launched on July 10, generated $1.4 million in player spending over its first 30 days, a far cry from the previous four mobile titles debuted by Nintendo. The biggest mobile game launch for the company came with 2017’s Fire Emblem Heroes in February that year at $67.6 million for its first month. 2016’s Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s first mobile offering, holds the second spot with $30.5 million, while last fall’s Dragalia Lost and 2017’s Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp round out the rest of the list with $26.4 million and $13.6 million, respectively.

Still, Dr. Mario World delivered a sizeable number of installs at 7.4 million, though, even then, the only title with less in its first month was Dragalia Lost, which recently became Nintendo’s second-highest mobile earner when it crossed the $100 million mark last month. What the install numbers show in relation with the revenue generated is that Dr. Mario World lags far behind Nintendo’s other mobile titles at just $0.19 spent per install (for comparison, Dragalia Lost, Nintendo’s best performer by this metric, generated $16.50 per download over its first 30 days).

What is promising, however, is that Dr. Mario World outperformed a number of other puzzle games based on licensed IP from competing mobile companies. Jam City’s Snoopy Pop+, launched in July 2017 and based off the popular Peanuts character, generated an estimated $1 million in player spending and registered two million installs in its first 30 days, according to Sensor Tower.

Dr. Mario World is available right now on iOS and Android.

EA reported today that Madden NFL 20 had the series’ biggest digital launch during its first week.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– EA SPORTS Madden NFL 20 is taking the sports world by storm, turning players into stars with some long-awaited football action. Over 70% of players dove into Face of the Franchise: QB1 during the game’s first week in a bid to become the next great quarterback. More playable units leaked for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Anna, Jeritza, Monica & more!

It appears that more characters have been leaked for Fire Emblem Three Houses! For starters, this article is a followup to the previous one that gives the full story. In short, a YouTuber data-mined more playable characters for Nintendo’s Strategy JRPG, Fire Emblem Three Houses. Not all leaked characters could be playable in future DLCs though, as their unit models were already in the game. However, characters such as Sothis or Rhea contain skill mastery and leveling up lines, revealing that they will indeed be playable in the near future.

For this most recent data-mine, Anna, Jeritza, Monica, Judith and Kostas are the ones being leaked here.

Seeing minor characters such as Kostas and Judith, it is safe to say that everyone in the roster could be playable in the future. Those models could also be here because they already were NPC units in the game. However, with Sothis and Rhea, assuming they would be playable isn’t out of the equation as well. Either way, stay tuned for more.

Alien: Isolation has been rated by the ESRB for the Nintendo Switch

The ESRB has rated Alien: Isolation for the Nintendo Switch. This game was announced to be coming to the platform during Nintendo’s Direct at E3 2019 on June 11th. Alien: Isolation is rated M for Mature.

This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of Amanda Ripley as she investigates a mysterious space station. From a first-person perspective, players explore the station’s rooms and corridors and use shotguns, pistols, bombs, and flamethrowers to kill alien creatures; androids can be dispatched by being shot, set on fire, or blown up. When Ripley is spotted by an alien, a short cutscene depicts her getting knocked down and bitten in the face, or stabbed through the chest with a spike. Blood is depicted when players are impaled; several corpses can be seen lying in pools of blood during the course of the game. The words “f**k,” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.

Need for Speed title to be announced August 14th

A little while ago, we reported that a new Need for Speed title would be releasing this year. It looks like EA are holding up to that promise, as we now have confirmation of when we’ll know more. On Need for Speed’s official page, a countdown clock is running down to the time of 6AM PST on August 14th. At that time, it is believed that the next title will be revealed and that honestly makes sense.

We, unfortunately, have no news regarding what this Need for Speed title will look like. When we learn that on the 14th though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. If you don’t know what Need for Speed is though, it’s a series of racing video games primarily published by EA. You must take control of a street racer, trying to both complete jobs as well as evade law enforcement. The last title in the franchise was 2017’s Need for Speed Payback, which received generally mixed reviews.

2019’s Need for Speed will release on consoles and PC, with a specified date currently unknown.
