*The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance, the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Granblue Fantasy Versus is launching February 6th in the West!

While we know the upcoming fantasy fighter is set to release in 2019 in Japan, we were still unclear on the western side of things. Announced to be ported over the world by XseedGames, we now have confirmation by Famitsu on their twitter account that the game will indeed be launching in 2020, all over the globe.

As of right now, it seems like the Playstation 4 will be the only platform to get this game but this could change in the future if said game meets enough success.

Granblue Fantasy is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Cygames for Android, iOS and web browsers, which first released in Japan in March 2014. The game is notable for reuniting music composer Nobuo Uematsu and art director Hideo Minaba, who previously collaborated on Final Fantasy V (1992), Final Fantasy VI (1994), Final Fantasy IX(2000), and Lost Odyssey (2007).

It gained a pretty big fanbase over the years with over 23 million recurrent players, an anime and manga adaptation, a console high budget jrpg developed by Cygames and now a spin-off fighting game, by no other than the masters of 2.5D anime fighters themselves, Arc System Works.

So if you weren’t already playing the mobile game, will you be jumping into the massive granblue fantasy universe with Versus or will you patiently be waiting for Granblue Fantasy Re:link, the console jrpg?

Steam free weekend games – Weekend of August 2nd

Welcome back to our weekly segment where we look at all the games you can play for free this weekend on Steam. This weekend is extra special, as Steam is celebrating EVO with a bunch of sales for fighting games. Fighting game enthusiasts should enjoy this weekend, with lots to put some time into. Without further adieu, here’s everything you can play for free this weekend!

Starting out we have Street Fighter V. This is the latest mainline title in the cult classic Street Fighter franchise. Developed by Capcom, you play as one of 16 iconic characters from the series and go head-to-head in multiplayer or singleplayer to claim victory. The game has a recent recommendation rate of 70%, as well as being the one game on this list available for longer than the weekend (9 days to be exact).

Next up is Dragon Ball FighterZ, which seeks to take what’s great from the series, and focus a game around it. From developer Arc System Works, you take control of iconic Dragon Ball characters and take part in epic battles. Having epic battles akin to the series, Dragon Ball fans love and will love this game. The recommendation rate of 84% further proves this point.

Following that is BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. This game is a crossover of BlazBlue, Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY (I’m as confused as you are). You take control of characters from each of the different games, taking part in 2v2 battles. All the craziness is of course included here, with great mechanics and smooth gameplay to boot. Overall, the game has a 75% recommendation rate, and appears worth checking out for fans of those series.
Finally, there’s UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[st]. A title from FRENCH-BREAD (what a name), you take control of one of twenty characters to fight through the Hollow Night and claim victory. Selling itself on a wide range of combos and solid 2D fighter controls, you can expect a lot of good from this game. It also sits at a 94% recommendation rate, the highest of all on this list.

And that’s all the games available for free right now! If you’re going to dive into any of these games, be sure to give us your thoughts. If you want to see these games and more in action, be sure to check out EVO. Otherwise, have a good weekend everyone.

September 2019’s Humble Monthly has been revealed!

If you’re feeling a little low on games to play right now, it looks like Humble Bundle has you covered. The team has officially revealed this month’s Humble Monthly, showcasing two early unlock games similar to last month’s monthly. Those two games are Slay the Spire, and Squad.

Slay the Spire is a roguelike card-game developed by indie studio MegaCrit and published by Humble Bundle. The game functions similar to your regular card game, having you build decks in order to take on opponents. The difference here is that those cards will determine how your character takes on your opponent and adds a layer of depth to the game. With a lot of replay-ability and varying ways of play, you’re sure to get a lot of time out of this one. The game has an 89 average review score on Metacritic.

On the other end, we have Squad (which had a free weekend recently). This is a tactical FPS developed and published by Offworld Industry. You must focus on teamwork and communication in order to defeat your enemies, making it good to play with some friends. If you’re into games similar to the Battlefield franchise, this may just be the way to go. Squad has an 85% approval rating on Steam at the time of this post.

You’ll also receive several more games if you subscribe to Humble Monthly by September 6th, making it more than worth $12. Last month’s is a good example of this, offering games like Rising Storm 2: Vietnam and The Adventure Pals. If you’re interested in getting in on this deal, you can do so here.

What are your thoughts on this month’s early unlocks? Let us know!

Ooblets is now an Epic exclusive, and it’s a PR nightmare

So, chances are by now that you’ve heard about Ooblets from some place or another. It’s a little life sim game being developed and published by two people. It’s not super popular, but there’s been a solid amount of patron supporters (around 1100 in fact). The game was exciting for those in its small community. The reason “was” is there is because, as you’ve seen from the title, the game is now an Epic exclusive. Obviously that’s not great for PR, but it looks like the developers have chosen to express their views publicly. To say the least, it’s not looking pretty.

For starters, they wrote up an entire blog post regarding EGS and their choice to move over that. In it, they talked very condescendingly towards those who are anti-EGS. Here’s an example of that very tone:

“You’ll have to install EGS if you wanna buy Ooblets on PC. I know that’s asking a lot but I believe in you and your ability to download a free thing and create a user account (if you haven’t already done so to play Fortnite which I KNOW YOU HAVE).”

That alone isn’t pretty, but unfortunately is one of the more tame things they’ve said publicly. Their Discord server had a lot more interesting moments, and you can read some of them here (thank you u/Slawrfp for the images).

Ooblets will release for PC and Xbox One sometime in the future.

No Man’s Sky Beyond is releasing in Mid-August

VR is the main focus of this update which brings a whole new experience to the game. You can watch the release date trailer here, giving a short glimpse of a new location.
