In today’s Nintendo Direct, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 3 Classic Edition and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027. The announcements were included as part of Nintendo’s Partner Spotlight.
Ubisoft provided this description of Far Cry 3 Classic Edition:
FARCRY 3 is a thrilling open-world FPS adventure in which you play as Jason Brody, a tourist fighting to survive on the fictional Rook islands. Face your insanity as you test your mettle in a world beyond civilization, ruled by piracy and human misery. Customize your loadout, active skills, and approach to each mission to suit your playstyle, whether you prefer to run in with guns blazing or a stealthy ranged approach.
It also described Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition as follows:
For a fight in a neon-soaked vision of the future, FARCRY 3: Blood Dragon is a retro-futuristic standalone action game inspired by classic 1980s sci-fi movies. Play as Sergeant Rex Colt: Mark IV Cyber Commando on an Earth ravaged by nuclear war, a cyborg on a mission of vengeance against your old commanding officer. You are humanity’s last hope for peace in this action-packed cyber shooter.
Both games are available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Ubisoft Store or Ubisoft+. In January, current-generation consoles received a free 60 FPS update for both games.
In November 2025, it was announced that a Far Cry TV series is in development for Hulu in North America (Disney+ in other regions), developed by Ubisoft and FX.
