Monolith Soft revealed a new look at the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release today, sharing a reveal of the brand-new hero, Shimmer, who will be joining as part of the release.
While we’ll have to wait until December for final confirmation, Shimmer is very likely to be Mythra’s child based on the character design, abilities, and core crystal featured. Foresight, a mechanic used by Mythra in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, was utilized by Shimmer in this trailer. Additionally, she features many design elements that directly pull from either Pyra and Mythra’s design, and she is one of the few heroes designed by Masatsugu Saito.
Beyond Shimmer, a new look at the Heroes’ Vault mode was showcased. This mode will throw you into an area where you must defeat as many enemies as you can. As you take down enemies, you can fill a gauge that, when filled, lets you add new abilities, strengthen yourself, and even let allies join the battle.
Beyond these new features, this Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will also feature enhanced resolution and frame rate, similar to previous Xenoblade Chronicles updates for the system. Monolith has confirmed that Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed, the DLC story for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, will be playable with the updated resolution and frame rate as well.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will release on December 3, 2026.
