During the company’s CinemaCon 2026 presentation, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a new R-rated animated film adaptation of Bloodborne. The Bloodborne animated film is being co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and Sean McLoughlin, also known as jacksepticeye.
Sony Pictures and Lyrical Media, the parent company of Lyrical Animation, are co-financing the film. According to Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch, the film will stay “very true” to the spirit of Bloodborne. No further details about the film were revealed.
The news comes just a few months after reports of a pitched Bloodborne remake by the now-defunct Bluepoint Games surfaced. Reportedly, the pitch was turned down in early 2025, since FromSoftware did not want to go through with a Bloodborne remake. Around that time, Bluepoint Games was pitching new ideas for projects after the cancelation of its live-service God of War game in January 2025. The PlayStation subsidiary studio was at the forefront of some of PlayStation’s most successful remakes, including Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls.
Since a remake is out of the cards, Bloodborne remains available only on PlayStation 4 in terms of an official capacity. Developed by From Software and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Bloodborne launched on March 14, 2015. Since then, there has not been any performance updates to get Bloodborne running at 60 FPS on PlayStation 5.
