Bluepoint Games Pitched a Bloodborne Remake and Was Turned Down

FromSoftware did not want to go through with it, reportedly.

Bluepoint Games pitched a remake of FromSoftware’s Bloodborne in early 2025 and was turned down, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. According to the report, Bluepoint Games was told that while numbers for the game made sense, FromSoftware did not want to go through with a Bloodborne remake.

Last year, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida noted that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki was interested in remaking Bloodborne, but he was too busy to do it himself and “doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.” When considering that PlayStation would respect Miyazaki’s wishes in this regard, this may be the reasoning why an opportunity for the remake was turned down.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is shutting down Bluepoint Games in March 2026, and roughly 70 employees will lose their jobs with the closure. The PlayStation subsidiary studio has been at the forefront of some of PlayStation’s most successful remakes, including Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls.

Bluepoint Games’ closure comes a year after its live-service God of War game was canceled in January 2025. At the time, PlayStation said it was working with the studio to determine their next project. The studio began to pitch new ideas for projects in the year leading to the closure.

Bluepoint Games worked on a number of high-profile remasters and remakes for PlayStation, including Uncharted and Shadow of the Colossus. Sony acquired the Austin-based studio back in 2021 after the successful launch of Demon’s Souls for PlayStation 5. The studio would go on to co-develop God of War Ragnarok in 2022.
