Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will release on January 22, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. The Xbox Series X|S will launch alongside the Switch 2 release.
Those purchasing the digital edition early will get a free copy of the original Final Fantasy VII in addition to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This offer is valid until January 31, and it’s a great way to experience the original if you’ve never played it. Additionally, those purchasing the physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition will receive one Play booster from Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy.
In Japan, the Switch 2 physical edition is a Game-Key Card. The box lists a file size of 90GB, which is larger than the 64GB game cartridges available. Both physical and digital editions are priced at $39.99.
A new message from Naoki Hamaguichi was also shared:
“The introduction of the Streamlined Progression feature was done to allow the game to cater for individual players’ different lifestyles and play styles.
The story is a major part of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and there are players who want to be able to enjoy the battles and exploration more casually while they really focus on that story.
I feel that the way people enjoy content has become more flexible these days, as we see with video streaming platforms, and that people also want the same thing from games, with options to tailor the experience based on the time they have and their levels of interest. I have also had personal experiences where I wanted to play something with the limited time I have but gave up because of the time it takes to level up characters or traverse the game.
That’s exactly why I think that the Streamlined Progression feature is very effective – to give players smooth access to the story.
In addition, this feature is useful not only on the first playthrough, but also when you come back to play again as well. If you want to revisit a particular scene or just recap on the story then they let you proceed through the game at a good pace. They’ll definitely aid players understanding and should lead to some exciting new discoveries.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is the first game in a trilogy, and I hope that this feature helps it become the entry point for the sequels that are released after. I want as many people as possible to experience the world of FINAL FANTASY VII!”
A new “Streamlined Progression” feature was also revealed, allowing for any player to focus on the story. Players will have unlimited MP and HP at all times, unlimited limit and ATB gauge during battles, 9,999 damage, easier weapon ability acquisition, and more.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade includes both Final Fantasy VII Remake and the Episode INTERmission DLC featuring Yuffie Kisaragi. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will run at 30 FPS with “smooth performance and crisp visuals.”
According to Naoki Hamaguchi, the power of Nintendo Switch 2 allows Square Enix to “recreate Midgar with full specs,” making Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and the series possible on the platform. Hamaguchi also has high hopes to build a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand. Once again, Hamaguchi’s comments essentially confirm that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will both come to Nintendo Switch 2 at some point.
