Cody Christian posted a story on Instagram today with the caption “so happy to be back with my bestie,” with an animated gif of Cloud Strife. He is seen inside what appears to be a voice recording studio, so it seems that voice recording for the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project likely has begun.

Last year, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi said the following during a panel through an interpreter: “The development team is hard at work as we speak, and we’re going to make the game something that even beats any expectations you have towards the game. I’m absolutely confident that the third game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series will be one of the most loved, most popular games in the whole history of video games once again.”

It was reported in January that the final game in the remake project was nine months into development, with news promised before the second anniversary of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis in September 2025, according to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth co-director Motomu Toriyama. With the entirety of Discs 2 & 3 left to be adapted, another historic chapter surely awaits with this final title.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available now for PlayStation 5 and PC. Be sure to check out our 5/5 review of the game, where we stated, “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a generational RPG that exemplifies everything there is to love about the medium.”
