At CES 2025, AMD announced its brand-new Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs, powered by AMD RDNA 4 architecture. The next generation of AMD GPUs will launch in Q1 2025 from AMD and board partners, including ASUS. Pricing for the GPUs were not announced.
AMD confirms that the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT GPUs feature 4nm chips with 2nd-generation AI accelerators, 3rd-generation raytracing accelerators, and 2nd-generation AMD Radiance Display Engine support. These GPUs will support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, which features high-quality 4K upscaling and lower latency with AMD Anti-Lag 2 compared to FSR 3.
Moreover, these GPUs will power the new Adrenalin AI feature suite in Adrenaline Software, capable of generating images, summarizing local documents, and answering AMD-related questions by users. More details about the AI features were not revealed just yet.
AMD also confirmed that the Radeon branding for RX 9070 and 9070 XT was decided to “sync” with Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. The rebrand also simplifies their model names in order to match its competitor. For example, a 70 class card from AMD competes with a 70 class card from Nvidia.
AMD did not reveal any specifications for the new GPUs either, but ASUS officially confirmed that the cards will feature 16 GB of video memory. ASUS TUF models will be overclocked, feature phase-charging thermal pads instead of thermal paste, and include a dual BIOS switch. 8-pin PCIe connectors will also remain the standard for the GPUs, and 750W PSUs are recommended.
