This past September, ARIKA and The Tetris Company announced the signing of a new licensing agreement to develop the new Tetris game. ARIKA confirmed that the new game will be released the fiscal year 2024. A subsequent update from The Tetris Company announced that the new game is the next entry in the Tetris: The Grand Master series.
The most recent game in the franchise, Tetris Forever, launched on November 12 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and GOG. The collection includes the following games: the original Tetris on the Electronika 60 computer, the 1988 Famicom version of Tetris, Tetris 2 + Bombliss, Tetris Battle Gaiden, Hatris, Super Bombliss, Super Bombliss DX, Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss, and Super Tetris 3.
Nintendo released the ARIKA-developed Tetris 99 in 2019 as a complementary title with Nintendo Switch Online memberships. As the name suggests, the game is a 99-player battle royale with the gameplay of Tetris. Past Maximus Cups have featured art and music from Pikmin 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, WarioWare: Move It, Super Mario Bros Wonder and more.
