Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the game will not receive DLC, as the team are focused on developing Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 as quickly as possible, according to a new Daily Star interview.
Hamaguchi acknowledges the demand for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth DLC, but he says that what fans want the most is for Remake Part 3 to be complete as quick as possible. As a result, the development team decided to focus development resources on Part 3.
“I understand it completely, but I think, from my perspective, what the fans really want to see the most is not necessarily DLC,” Hamaguchi said. “They want to see the third part of the series as quickly as possible. Sothat’s why we’ve decided not to focus the development resources on creating additional extra episodes for DLC at the moment. We really are putting all our efforts into getting the third game out as quickly as we can. So for the moment, that’s where we’re focusing our time.”
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is currently in the concept phase. Hamaguchi recently commented players will be able to freely move around with the Highwind airship in Part 3, and they’ll “not skimp” on the details.
We should expect more news before the second anniversary of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis in 2025, according to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth co-director Motomu Toriyama. This means that Square Enix will share information about Part 3 before or within September 2025.
In the meantime, you can catch up on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and play an enhanced version of the game on PS5 Pro. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth update 1.050 added Versatility Mode, combining characteristics of Performance and Graphics Modes into one.
