As a result, A Minecraft Movie has an art style that has already created much controversy, with the trailer receiving a ratio of 139,000 likes to 102,000 dislikes and climbing. The film will premiere in theaters on April 4.
The cast includes Jack Black as Steve, as well as Jason Momoa, Kate McKinnon, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Jemaine Clement, Jennifer Coolidge, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen in currently undisclosed roles. Check out the first teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie below:
Over the last few years, Minecraft has seen a massive resurgence. Mojang has released several new cosmetic packs and spinoff games in recent years. Additionally, Nintendo also included Steve and the Minecraft franchise in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. An amiibo of the blocky character is available now at most local and online retailers. The game is available now on iOS, Android, the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
A Minecraft Movie joins the ranks of countless video game adaptations that have released in the past couple of years. This includes Fallout, Arcane, The Super Mario Bros. Movie (also starring Jack Black), The Last of Us, and more. Later this year, new adaptations such as Secret Level, an anthology series that includes the likes of God of War, Mega Man, and others, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, featuring the debut of Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, will premiere.
