NetherRealm Studios has announced that the next DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1, Takeda, will release for early access owners on July 23. Additionally, they have also confirmed that the next kameo fighter, Ferra, will now release alongside Takeda.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the long-anticipated next entry in the beloved Mortal Kombat franchise. The game is available now and features various unique characters and brand-new ways to play. In November, during New York Comic-Con, NRS released the first DLC character, Omni-Man, for the game. They released Quan Chi in December, with the next character, Peacemaker, releasing in February. In April, Ermac was added to the game. The most recent character released for Mortal Kombat 1 was Homelander.

Recently, NetherRealm Studios announced that their next kameo fighter for Mortal Kombat 1, Ferra, has been delayed to July 23. The kameo would’ve initially released later this month. Further, they also confirmed that the game’s next DLC character, Takeda, will release alongside Ferra.
NetherRealm Studios initially introduced Takeda Takahashi in Mortal Kombat X. In that game, he was Kenshi’s son and Scorpion’s apprentice. With Mortal Kombat 1 serving as a reboot to the franchise, only time will tell how Takeda’s story will differ from his first appearance.
During the CCXP 2023 event in Brazil, Ed Boon held a panel dedicated to Mortal Kombat. During the event, he revealed that the game will be getting story DLC in the near future. He stated: “Just like we did with MK11, we’re going to release a second part with more story and we have a big surprise after that.”
Lastly, Takeda Takashi will be available for Mortal Kombat 1 on July 23 for Early Access players. NetherRealm Studios will likely release a trailer for the character in the coming weeks.
