Nintendo announced the price of the original Nintendo Switch family of systems will increase due to “market conditions” in Canada. Products affected by the price increase in Canada are the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch — OLED Model, physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, and accessories.
What’s more, amiibo and Nintendo Switch Online memberships will also experience price changes. Pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, accessories, and software will not be affected. New pricing information for Canada will be revealed on August 1 via Nintendo.com.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, and it is priced at $449.99. A bundle is available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers are periodically replenishing stock, so it may be worth turning on notifications at participating retailers.
The next major Nintendo Switch 2 game, Donkey Kong Bananza, will release on July 17. It will run at 1080p 60 FPS in handheld mode and support HDR in handheld mode and docked mode. Nintendo recently held a Donkey Kong Bananza Nintendo Direct which showcased more details about the upcoming release’s gameplay, story, and characters.
