Pre-orders for the Yoshitoku × F:NEX Asuka Langley Shikinami -Japanese Doll- and Rei Ayanami -Japanese Doll- 1/4 scale figures (198,000 yen each, tax included) are available at the Evangelion Store through September 15 at 23:59 p.m. JST. To celebrate this collaboration between Evangelion, historic doll maker Yoshitoku, and FuRyu Corporation’s high-quality hobby brand F:NEX, some behind-the-scenes insights into the two-year development of the figures were revealed.

Nearly two years in development: The sculpted beauty perfected by Yoshitoku and F:NEX
To transform the characters into authentic Japanese dolls while preserving their original appeal, the design team spent approximately two years refining every detail through continuous trial and error.
In addition to facial sculpting, the poses draw inspiration from traditional Japanese dance movements to express Asuka and Rei’s distinct personalities. FuRyu’s development team focused heavily on shaping the fingers to achieve a graceful, fluid posture.
Meticulous costumes crafted from authentic kimono fabric
The figures wear genuine kimono fabric made for human clothing, requiring millimeter-level adjustments to align the patterns perfectly at 1/4 scale.
The color schemes reflect the characters’ iconic plugsuits: Rei’s outfit features subtle red accents highlighting her eyes against a dominant blue backdrop, while Asuka’s includes custom re-dyed orange inner fabric inspired by her suit.
Additionally, the outermost kimono on both figures use the same pattern with inverted color schemes, allowing fans to display the pair side-by-side in matching, complementary outfits

The Evangelion Store is hosting its global “Operation: Overseas Supply” campaign to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Evangelion. The Operation: Overseas Supply campaign offers one of two exclusive clear cards (120 mm x 70 mm) for every 5,000 yen (excluding tax) spent in the Evangelion Store through Buyee, with up to a total of 8 cards per transaction.
A new Evangelion anime is in development as the “Next Genesis” for the beloved franchise. Yoko Taro, most known for his work on the NieR franchise, is the series script supervisor and scriptwriter. The directors are Kazuya Tsurumaki and Tōko Yatabe, both of whom have worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion films. The music composer will be Keiichi Okabe, who has also worked on the NieR franchise. The studios developing the anime will be studio Khara and CloverWorks (My Dress Up Darling and SPY X FAMILY).
