Mortal Kombat 1 Reveals Gameplay for Peacemaker and New Kameo, Janet Cage
NetherRealm Studios recently revealed a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1‘s next DLC character, Peacemaker. Peacemaker, originally introduced in DC Comics, was made popular by James Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad. In the movie, wrestler and actor John Cena portrayed the character. He will return to voice the character in Mortal Kombat 1.
He is joined by a new kameo fighter: Janet Cage. Janet is a genderbent version of Johnny Cage. She sports moves similar to the beloved movie star, as well as a brutal fatality. Check out the trailer for the character below:
During the recent CCXP 2023 event in Brazil, Ed Boon held a panel dedicated to Mortal Kombat. During the event, he revealed that the game will be getting story DLC in the near future. He stated: “Just like we did with MK11, we’re going to release a second part with more story and we have a big surprise after that.”
Mortal Kombat 1‘s predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11, also featured a story DLC. Titled Aftermath, the expansion released over one year after the release of MK11. With the previous precedent being set by Mortal Kombat 11, it is likely that Mortal Kombat 1‘s story expansion will release in Fall 2024, after the entirety of Kombat Pack 1 has been released.
Lastly, Mortal Kombat 1 will add Peacemaker to early access on February 28. It will be available for everyone else on March 6. Janet Cage will also be available in late March.
