Following the recent tease for the new Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake, reputable insider Midori (@MbKKssTBhz5) claimed that all three games in the Erdrick/Loto trilogy (DQ I, II, III) will receive remakes.
On Dragon Quest Day (May 27), Square Enix confirmed that Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake will come to PC and consoles, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date was not announced, but Midori claims that more news is coming at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct.
As mentioned prior, Midori claims Dragon Quest I through III will all receive HD-2D remakes. Although not directly confirmed by Square Enix, the teaser’s logo and emblem suggests the first title in the franchise will receive an HD-2D remake. The tagline “the legacy begins” also seems to reiterate this. The remakes will reportedly release before the end of Square Enix’s fiscal year on March 31, 2025.
I think it is Loto trilogy.

Dragon Quest III is being remade in the tried-and-true engine that’s used in other Square Enix games such as LIVE A LIVE and Octopath Traveler. The game was first announced in May 2021 for unannounced platforms at the time. It was confirmed to receive a simultaneous worldwide release.
Back in December 2023, Yuji Horii confirmed that he’s playtesting the new Dragon Quest III remake. The Dragon Quest creator thanked fans for their support, which made development of the remake possible in the first place.
Development of Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate is still underway with no confirmed release date. Series creator Yuji Horii wants to live up to the legacy of character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama with the new title.
