Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 Brings the End of the Penacony Story

Featuring new playable character Robin and Boothill.

HoYoverse announced the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 “Then Wake to Weep” update will release on May 8. The update is teased as the climax of the Penacony story, which began in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0.

The previous update, Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.1, marked the halfway point for the Penacony story. New features such as Fate’s Ensemble were implemented, and more characters were introduced. HoYoverse also began to prepare for the Honkai: Star Rail first anniversary celebration with special login bonuses.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 “Then Wake to Weep” Begins Soon

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 “Then Wake to Weep” arrives on May 8 and features the debut of playable characters Robin and Boothill. Additionally, players will encounter the “Harmonious Choir” The Great Septimus enemy, which plans to deliver a performance of some kind at the Charmony Festival. This will be the culmination of the Penacony main storyline, as the Astral Express soon prepares for a new adventure.

Players will have access to several new Dreamscapes in order to unravel The Family’s Secrets on Penacony. The first new Dreamscape is the Dreamflux Reef, where players will reunite with some unexpected faces. Moreover, the Charmony Festival will be underway. The event brings forth the Moment of Scorchsand, which is a grand spectacle that players may audition for and achieve the title of Festive Superstar. This opportunity means that players will enter the Penacony Grand Theater and witness Robin’s performance.

Robin is a Halovian songstress that is known for her beauty and talent. She’s a five-star character following the power of Harmony, allowing her music to resonate with fans and any kind of living being. In combat, Robin uses her melodies to provide support and buffs to her allies. Her Ultimate involves a morale-boosting performance that also places Robin in a performative state during combat. In this state, allies can act once more immediately with enhanced buffs. Robin also inflicts additional damage upon the enemy with each attack from her allies.

Moreover, Boothill makes his debut as a five-start character. He’s a cyborg cowboy that’s exploring the universe as a Galaxy Ranger. He plans to capture the attention of the Interastral Peace Corporation, the organization he wishes to exact his revenge on. IN combat, Boothill engages in duels with single enemies, taunting them and causing both characters to suffer increased damage. When he unleashes his Ultimate, Boothill inflicts the Physical Weakness debuff on his target, deals major damage, and postpones their next move.

    Announcement Trailer and New Events

In Version 2.2’s new Warp Event, players may reacquire limited five-star characters Topaz & Numby and Fu Xuan. These characters will fight alongside players to face the various challenges in Penacony’s climax.

The Honkai: Star Rail Concert will be streamed globally on May 1, 2024, at 7:05 p.m. (UTC+8) to celebrate the game’s first anniversary. It will be streamed on the game’s official YouTube channel.
